Default Tappered leaders and droppers

Hi All,

I currently fish with an 8lb or 10lb leader from fly line to point fly and tie my droppers on using a three turn water knot with the same b/s line.

I'm looking to move to using self tied tapered leader and have some questions:

1) I mainly fish Hanningfield so what breaking strains would be appropriate?
2) Should I tie my droppers using the b/s of the line on the leader to which it i attached? For example top dropper use 10lb, middle dropper use 8lb and point use 6lb.

Cheers

Fazzer

Why do you feel the need for a tapered leader with a 3 fly cast.
My advice for this cast is stick to what you'r doing.Keep it simple and you'll not go wrong.

Hi Jim,

I thought that a tapered leader would improve the turnover of the leader and hence my presentation..........

Maybe if you were fishing a single dry fly,but with a 3 fly cast don't bother it's not worth the effort.
I don't have any problems with turnover with a 20' 3 fly cast, 10lb bs straight through.
