Default Poppers

Having read FF&FT about fishing for perch with poppers I unearthed two rather old blank poppers on hooks hidden in the attic. Having tied them up at the waterside I jumped in my float tube and had a very cautious go not hoping for much. Well five hours later I was getting knackered from the endless casting and stripping but in that time I reckon I had a hundred or so takes but only conected properly with about 15 trout, no sign of any perch. I am seriously hooked!!

Having only one popper now as the other is in pieces can anyone tell me where I can get some more? I've tried GAC but I'm unsure if the hooks come with them

I got mine from Carrilon, they do (or at least they did) a pack with I think 9 different poppers in. It really is exciting stuff and coming up to the best time of year for it in my opinion.

YGA CATALOGUE
Easy on the stockie basher theme I'm in the middle of my dry fly revival period you know

Actually I'm just experimenting with different methods just know but it's usually dries and nymphs for me. Thinking about the hill lochs around my folks house next year.

Thanks for the info, I think there's a Carrilion catalogue in the FF&FT magazine so I'll have a look.

Had a look in Carrilion and YGA but what I'm after are the blank ones as I tie up my own flies.

Will I have to order them from America instead?

Hi Plodger,

WAPSI is what you're looking for.

Welcome to Wapsi Fly, Inc. - Foam Poppers

Lakeland used to sell them but the website says out of stock. A couple of years ago there was a guy in the magazines and at various game fairs selling poppers etc but I can't think of the company name at the moment

edit: Fishtec have got them
