Default Sparton Stratonymph Rod?

Hello,
Does anybody have any insight/opinions with the Sparton stratonymph rod? I am looking to purchase a general bank rod, 6/7#, largely for fishing nymphs but capable of fishing lures or emergers/drys. So an all purpose bank rod. And I have heard Harrison banks are top quality. Anybody any experience of these rods?

Thanks in advance,
M

I have a 2 pc 10' 6/7# Stratonymph.very nice rod,Plenty of power.I use it for bank fishing.would be considered a bit slower than more modern tip action rods.but this is fine for what I want it for.

Thanks Jim for the reply. That's sort of thing I was looking for. A rod with a softer action and responsive to takes when fishing nymphs. Do you think it is worth the money?

I think that you cannot fail.A rod built by a well know rodmaker with a harrison blank.and he even puts his name on it.and he can be found at the end of the phone.Hard to get that sort of personal service nowdays at any cost.
He even posts on here. Not to shabby really.

I built a rod on a 10' 6/7 4 piece Harrison blank a couple of years ago using fujis throughout etc much like Steve does. If his three piece Stratonymph is anything like mine it's an absolute pearl, a lovely medium action, reminiscent of the old (British made) Hardy deluxe 10' 6/7, a perfect shorter wet fly rod. More of a 6 than a 7 in my view.

I use it for everything now, nymphs, wets, dries and lures. So far, it's had fish up to 8lb and handled them perfectly. I left it out of the tube a few weeks ago by mistake and had to use a factory built sage instead, I found it a bag of sh*te in comparison, much too fast for my liking.

Get one or forever miss out on a good thing.

I was fishing with a fellow forumite a couple of weeks ago or so and he was sporting a Sparton piece. Pretty impressive and a lovely feel to it.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I sense he is a good guy, always read a positive word about him and his rods.
