Default Apps Bloodworms

Hi,

I never normally fish Bloodworms, but I can remember reading that they can prove deadly. I ordered a few apps bloodworms with a collection of other flies. Has anybody used these to good effect? What is the best way to fish them etc?

Thanks in advance

Mike

Mike

If you ask Martin Introna (Captain) or Ron Clay or James Britten; they will all say there is but one way to fish them.

Under the bung!!!

All jokes aside, apart from fishing them under the bung (sight indicator - I say!) or on a long leader tweaked back slowly, left static etc.

Give it a go and best of luck.

Ben

i've had good luck fishing them on a very slow sinking line, using a figure of eight retreive, this works well when the fish are deep down. it's a good method to figure out how deep the fish are as well.

when i know the fish are near the surface, i usually fish them tied new zealand style on a klinkhammer. this way you often find some fish take the dry fly, and others will take the bloodworm. i see no use in using a bung, they cant hook a fish, and a small dry will hold up a bloodworm with no problems.

I find them very deadly during the winter months, but have never caught with them in the warmer months.

Default Try green variants too?

Hi, If you want to try something fun, tie up some green variants with green seed bead bodies and add a white one in the centre.

Use these on an intermediate line with good bite detection, such as the Sixth Sense lines. You'll feel some tugs before the take, so just keep retrieving then it'll all go tight, don't strike !!

Let me know how you do.

Default An after thought

You could also try Flouro Red with white beads and also Pink with white beads.
