Default Felt for soles ??

I have a pair of walking boots i use for wading, i was having problems getting wading boots big enough.... anyhow, thet are perfect on the chalkstreams BUT when i travel to anywhere rocky it is a bit hairy to say the least, i look like bambi on ice... i was thinking of "pimping my boots", mrs pimps friends dad has a cobblers... i was gonna get him to grind off the tread and glue a felt sole on them...the boots are a UK 14 and i dont want to waste money buying precut soles in the hope that they will fit.

any of you have any idea what sort or grade of felt is needed ? i have found a few felt retailers but who woul guess the world of felt could be such a confusing and scary place

i know you said you weren't looking for precut felt, but john norris are doing a set with adhesives for only £15, check here.

Snowbee Wading Boot Felt-Sole Kit › Fishing Waders and Boots › Snowbee › Page 1

looking around a bit, you'll have to buy by the metre, which at the heavy duty grade you need, costs around £30 a metre.

Default John Norris or Peter Cockwill

Both of the above have felt soles and adhesive. When you get your soles, have a cobbler put them mate. They know how to fit these correctly, having tried to do this myself and c**k it up.

If you don't put these on right, they'll just peel off after a visit to your favourite water.

Best Regards

Been down the same road (as have others I know) as S564. Putting new felts on boot bottoms is a lot harder job than it looks. You'll spend more $$$$$$ 'releasing' your frustration than you paid for the base materials.

Just take 'our' word for it.
