Default Sumo Rods from Tackle Discounts in the UK

Does anyone here have any experience with the "tacklediscounts", Sumo brand of fly rods. Without first checking I bid on and won? a 5/6 Sumo XS 10 ft fly rod. They show the retail value over 240 british pounds (about $320 US).
Some have said that they need at least one weight heavier line to load and some have said that they are ****..
Paid about $50 for it plus shipping, and now I am curious (better late than never I guess) Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Here's an interesting clause - No. 8 - in the returns policy advertised by Tacklediscounts on their Return Request page titled "Stuff our lawyers make us say " Oh really!

Terms & Conditions - stuff our lawyers make us say.

1. If there is anything we can do to help you avoid returning an item, please contact us, we'd like to help.
2. Customers may choose a product exchange or a merchandise credit for all valid returns.
3. The partial return of an order in which a coupon was used may invalidate the coupon in which case additional monies will be due and/or deducted from the refund.
4. Shipping costs will not be reimbursed. If your return is the result of an error by Tackle Discounts, your refund may include a shipping refund - up to original item shipping amount.
5. The returns form must be completed for ALL items you wish to return.
6. Please track and insure all returned packages. Tackle Discounts is not responsible for packages lost in transit.
7. Merchandise credits are valid for 1 year from date of issue.

8. If you leave us negative feedback on a chat board or third party site before attempting to resolve a problem, we reserve the right to accept that as final resolution to the matter and may not accept a return or issue an exchange/credit.

I think clause 8 can be disregarded legally. But I may be wrong...

Statutory rights and all that

Also rule 2 is a complete LIE. Any faulty goods entitle the buyer to a refund or exchange

You can't help but feel sorry for Tacklediscounts, their lawyers - a particularly ill informed bunch from the looks - made them say it!

Tacklediscounts customer service is pretty good, and they do try to resolve any issues customers had, Andrew from Tacklediscounts is a member of the forum and can be pm'd if you have any issues.

It would be interesting if Andrew were to explain to the forum why
Tacklediscounts feel it's necessary to have a legally unenforceable gagging clause written into their terms and conditions for returning goods.

web site looks good, and they do have a shop in Swindon you can visit , gives you more confidence to order.

I won a Sumo on the e bay web site, a 7/8 weight. I have found it to be a very good, light to use rod. It casts a very nice line and, in my opinion, is comparable to rods that cost many times more.
Recently, whilst fishing Kingennie, Scotland, I hooked and landed a ten pound rainbow with this rod and it behaved beautifully, the rod that is.
I, personally would have no hesitation in recommending this brand to anyone.
Hope that this helps,
Keith
