Great video thanks for posting,going out now to give it a try.
I always struggle with the second part of the cast,the exceleration to the stop.
Have you seen Spey girl on utube? someone else that makes it look easy.

I've been practicing roll casts on grass for a while and this video is great but I still cant get it. I always end up with the line touching the grass before the leader is all played out unless I use a really short line. The video shows a powerful wave going through the line as if there was a tension from a backcast but I just get a ripple with no real power no matter how much energy I put in. Any clues

Your flyline won't anchor on grass, you really need to practise on water.

Silly question then. Do I need to be wading (ie water around and behind me) or will it work form the bank (water just to the front of me)?
