Default "coiling" a leader for re-use?

I've lost so many leaders due to poor coiling when storing; I've just invested in some Riverge and I'll be damned if I'm loosing any due to tangles, so my question is:

What is the best way to coil and store a leader for re-use?

Thanks, Gary

There are lots of gadgets, but a beer mat from the pub with a cut here and there works just fine. Cut a 1/2" slot in the centre of the four straight bits.

I've tried the card with slots method, but found that it kinked the line; perhaps I was wrapping a little tight.
My Dad always managed to hand coil his leaders, with flies attached, and still managed to use them again and again. Perhaps I should have paid more attention when he was living
I've just come across one of his old Maxima coils in a wooden fly box, perfectly coiled with no kinks, this one will be staying where it was left

I wind it onto my reel, criss cross as you wind the leader on so it doesn't bury itself into your fly line. Not too tight and not too slack and be sure to leave a tag end. Simplz

If you can get your hands on some large diameter foam pipe insulation (Lagging), its a good job. Just wrap the leader around it and stick the hooks into it to keep in place.

I got 10 foam spools in the local tackle shop for €2.50 ,I leave the point fly on the leader and wraparound.Takes up very little room in the pocket.

If you buy spindles of CDs/ DVDs they come with flexible plastic discs. Take a hole-punch and clip holes around the outside edge. Then just lay the leader through the slots. The made-up flies can be slipped under the nearest bit of line to stop them flapping about. Use a sandwich bag or similar to pop them into so they don't snag on bits in your bag when not in use.

Some great tips there; I now have a few ideas to sort me out and save some money

Thanks again, Gary

Almost the same.

I nail knot it to the Fly Line and then wind it round the outside of the reel before putting it back in it's case.

With a small Tippet ring on the end, I just add a few feet of Tippet and discard that in a Monomaster.

One Riverge Leader will last a season and I use hardly any Tippet length.
