Default High Newton fishery

Hey guys, Thinking of fishing High Newton tomorrow and after any info or advice on how it is fishing. I visited last year and had a good day on nmphs and dries. I have looked at the lake district fishing website but after some first hand info if anyone has anything on flies, hot spots, methods, etc

Thanks in advance

Hi, fished it a few months back for four days back to back but the weather was fairly warm at the time so wasn,t the best fishing conditions. Didn,t really fish the dam wall but opposite this on the area they call the "Cliffs". Casting quite far out with a foam backed daddy resulted in a number of fish also unweighted damsels on a floating line caught myself some fish when cast to the rises. Also the bay at the top end can hold fish when the wind has been blowing that way.
A couple of Kate McClaren wet flies can also pull fish from nowhere.
Anyway good luck and hope its not to windy, ck

Only ever fished it the once J, and caught a 4.5lb Rainbow on a Damsel, only fish I caught all day.
Nice place though, and I think the dam wall can be productive.
Enjoy, S.

I fish it a lot and it is fantastic. This year I have not caught less than 10 fish every time. the best flies are anything small and black and particually black ants and beatles, hears ear and ptn good also.

Tight lines James
