can i put a 8wgt line on a 6-7 grxi cassette type reel, i want to use line on a 7-8wgt penn rod and also use reel on my 6wgt rod with a 6wgt line , thanks

If you limit the backing a bit, I suppose it would be ok. I have the 7/8 Grxi with #8 line, around 30yds of backing with plenty room left.
