Default What's a days fishing to you ?

Had a wee chuckle to myself when I read the Scottish forum members day out.

Start fishing 9am - lunch 1pm - finish 5pm
Sounds like an outing for the East Sussex over 75 rotary club

The replies weren't much better ' put me down for 4 fish' LOL
Nope it's a Tesco shopping trip.

So I was wondering....... what's a days fishing to you ?

Yesterday, 10 hours on loch Brora before hitting my first seatrout at 9pm and leaving the water at 10pm with 7 in the boat and one keeper.

Maybe it was just a guideline for the get-together? Like the song NINE TO FIVE.

I love fishing early as possible, can't beat that early morning fishing feeling. I also love fishing the last hours of the evening as the light fades and disappears altogether. As a result I'm usually banging on the door of a fishery to get my ticket and boat, and they're usually screaming at me to "bring that effing boat in" at the end of the day. A summers day for me often begins with leaving the house at 5:30 to get to the fishery for 7 (or half 8 depending on which one I choose), fishing until 10pm, then an hour and a half or two and a half hour drive home, again depending on which fishery I travel too. Long day, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

When sea trout fishing I like to get to the river an hour before dark, just to savour the atmosphere, and I pack up when the hallucinations from tiredness reach a point where it is dangerous for me to be in charge of a pair of scissors.

Lately it's been down to start at 8pm and staying into the dark untill the point where I'm glad I bought a wading stick and nearly having a heart attack from the splash of fish right beside me. I love the little flicking sound small fish make when getting air. I do hate the bit where I have my headlight on and looking around only to find two glowing orbs looking back at me. Usually means the otter has come near by and the fish stop taking.

Way wide of the mark DJ.
Its a day out at a recognised trout fishery where 20 to 30 members of the forum travel a good few miles to meet up and enjoy the craic.
Fishing and catching is the object, but not sole aim.
Is a method of meeting folk and enjoying the day.
As is organised day on a fishery somewhere time is always of the essence.
But i am sure if you contact jim with a view to organising a "day" for members he would be delighted.
regards
bert

I'm really lucky as my syndicate water is 15 minutes from home so i like to be there for first light, Home for lunch and then back again till dusk. Can't get enough and it's much more convenient than my 4 hour journey to Hereford for my barbel

Personally, I think that's a very civilised day's fishing .
Arrive at the fishery, have a chat and a coffee with friends.
Then a few hours fishing, back to meet up for lunch and swap experiences.
Then back out for a few more hours before finishing, perhaps with a different boat partner for the afternoon.

Am I reading this correct? You started at 11am (perhaps you had a lie in )
and then proceeded to fish for 11 hours. Obviously you did not have a formal break for refreshments, just grabbed them as you went along.

All in all then you were at the fishery for 11 hours compared with the group above who had a mere 8 hours.

Wow a whole 37.5% increase, you guys in the over 60's Rotary Club really know how to live it up Bet you did 12 hours or even more when you were younger

Yesterday I had a pleasant 5 hours in a boat on Foremark (a new venue for me). 6 fish in the boat (no keepers) all on Shuttlecock buzzers, and home in time for tea.

Ah! the joys of fishing, each to their own and good luck to all
