Default Loch Ba Rannoch moor

Anyone ever fished this loch, was going to give it a bash sometime this week but noticed its free, so wondering if it is full of ********s with 10 rods using swimfeeders or is it quite secluded, and if the it contains pike as well as the we broons and should a 4# rod suffice or would i need to go heavier not sure of the area and imagine i'll probly get caught in gale force winds knowing scotland

Yes I've fished it. It was full of trout and near the A82 it was full of litter too. Walk away from the road following the shore until there are no more forked sticks, smashed bottles and lager tins and eventually you will be away from the litter line.

If you like unspoiled water, instead of heading east from the A82 head west instead to Lochan na h'Achlaise and Loch Buidhe. You still have the litter near the road but walking further will get you some nice water. Loch Buidhe has water plants growing in it and the fish can surprise you. Lots around the 4oz mark but suddenly you can find a two pounder has got hold. Use one fly. Using three gets you three fish a cast sometimes, which is a pain to deal with.

Loch Ba has been hammered by the live minnow brigade for years now, even walking a couple of miles in now is not really worth it, the minnow boys have just about cleaned it out. If you find somewhere worth while, don't mention it to anyone but your closest friends. Take care on the moors, watch where you step, have fun.
Billy.

Your correct, it's been heavily fished by the bait boys but it does still produce Richard is correct though, a wee walk across the road to the other lochs might be more productive - and yes the nearer the road the more litter

There are no Pike, your 4 weight is ideal unless it's really blowing... saying that you'll want a bit of a breeze otherwise the midges will be murder

Great surroundings an well worth a cast.

fly fishers dont mind respectful bait fishers, they usually share the same views,
they dont like baitfishers that just do it for a nice venue to get p1shed then leave their litter on the bank, i'm sure respectful bait fishers think very similarly.

the split isnt between the methods, its between selfish arrogant people and nice ones, you can find that anywhere if you go looking.
