Default Yet another question...Leader to tippet

In a previous post i gleaned some info regarding tapered leaders and tippets. I am in the process of attaching my 3x 6lb tippet to 8lb leader using the surgeons knot but notice that it breaks relatively easily under nominal pressure and worse as you go down to 4lb. Should this happen? I know that it will break easier using your hands as opposed to a fish on the end battling against the forgiving lunges of a rod but just need some assurance.

Try a loop to loop connection using a perfection loop on the end of the leader and the tippet.

Perfection Loop | How to tie the Perfection Loop | Fishing Knots

Advantage of this is not only is it very strong but you only need to put the loop in the leader once.

A two turn water knot or even better, depending how far the join is from the tip a grinner. As for breaking providing you can take the stretch up and it hold without breaking it should be fine.

Default Kip.

Do you make sure you lubricate the knot, before you pull it ut tight?

It sounds obvious, but it is most important.

Leader joined to line - A Perfection Loop!

Joining tippet to leader or making up your own leaders, When joining the material - A water knot; and wet it as mentioned above! It's very important to wet the knot before tightening! Try the Davey knot when attaching your fly! It's Strong.

Oh blimey yes, I'm an experienced specimen hunter with some very big fish under my belt but very new to Game angling, Just want everything spot on and some input on the business end of the fly line and how most people go about it. I seem to be getting better strength with loop to loop as opposed to the surgeons knot.
