Default Advice on line please

im new at this my okuma slv 7-8 reel, came ready loaded with orange floating line new,i believe the line will be Ron Thompson, line,my daughter borrowed reel today,
and used it on a sonik Sk3 7-8 rod,she said, rod does not throw line out very well, but line seems to have a bad memory.

Can i have some help on which good floating line to buy ,because i seem to be getting all the wrong things at moment,

Hi Keith, First I would try stretching the line before fishing with it, then dress it with a silicon line dressing and if it is no better I would look at Rio Grand or Rio Nymph lines, They cast well, mend well and if cleaned and dressed will float all day long. If you just need distance then have a look at Airflo 40+ lines.
Hope this helps.
All the best.
Mike

Get one of the Pirate's lines. They are supple, cast and float beautifully, have no memory and are a fantastic value at only 18 pounds delivered! I was out with mine yesterday fishing a combination of very tight streams and large pools and it was more than up to the task with a total of twelve fish to the net. Fished from 8:30 to 20:00 with an hour break for lunch and the line floated like a cork all day.

Take care

Terry

I'm not going to make a recommendation between the two but you will not do better than the Pitsford Pirates line, already mentioned, or the Barrio which is also available through this Forum.

Both excellent lines that lie straight and true on the water and both less than twenty quid.

I've casted with the cheaper ron thompson lines , i don't think you can do much worse. Don't have any first hand experience with either the Barrio or PP's flylines but have heard many good things.
