Good tactics for weedy waters?

Need advice on flies tactics etc. for weedy water, have been invited to fish with a friend of my granda's but he says the waters a bit weedy on the stillwater but he there are some clear patches were the owners have managed to get some on the weed cut out.

Just wondering what sort of tactics should work for these kinds of conditions.
