Default Dry or Wet

Hello all,
can i ask a silly question as someone new to fly fishing?.

How do i tell difference between a wet fly and a dry fly
is it the eye of hook ,one being upturned, other down turned ??

Dry flys normally are tied on lighter wire hooks than wets and use stiff cock hackle in them and can be tied on up,straight or down eyes.

Wets are tie on heavier hooks and use soft cock or hen hackles and can be tied on straight or down eyed hooks.
