Default Been broken on Snowbee Flouro-Tec 10lb

Hi All, Recently been broken on this Flouro-Tec FC from Snowbee. I make a point of moistening knots before slowly drawing tight. The take was on the top dropper, to a Diawl Bach and was not a large fish.

I can't explain this, but, perhaps someone can?

Best Regards

Dodgy stuff that fluoro mate, and most of the other too-good-to-be-true lines. If I were you I'd stick to Maxima.

The line has probably been on the shelf for a while in daylight before you bought it, Flouro really degrades when exposed to UV light so I allways keep it in a nice dark pocket and do not buy the spool at the front of the shop display. It is great stuff but it needs more looking after than nylon.
All the best.
Mike.

The line was probably fine. That's fishing. There's many reasons that could explain a break. If your knots are always perfect and there's no earthly reason not to assume it was the line, and your confidence in it has gone, then change brand. I'd say as high as 95% of breakages, maybe more, are not the fault of the line.

Hi Lads, Thanks for that. I think a brand change is the order of the day. As you say once you lose confidence, then that's it really.

I thought fluoro was specifically designed not to degrade in UV light. That's why the Japanese developed it, to make long-lasting fishing nets out of - it was never designed to take knots though, the manufacturers are still coming to terms with that problem.

You might have had a kink or wind knot on your dropper.

Correct, it doesn't degrade in UV, that's why it lasts so long in the environment.
