Default HalfHogs etc...

I just wondered how best to fish the deer hair patterns such as muddlers, hedgehogs etc... Are they fished as dries but twitched back or do they fish subsurface?

I am going to have a guess and say there is far more than one way to fish them but I will feel a hell of a lot more confident when using them at first to know how it is "supposed" to be done.

They will take fish on any line incl a DI7 or ginked up and fished on a floater or slow intermediate. Fished in any position or 3 to a cast, the choice is yours and there are no guidelines but in saying that most people fish on on the top dropper. Experiment and you might be surprised.
Cheers

I like fishing the muddlers on a long leader by itself on a floating line just as the lights fading and the bigger the wave the better but work just as good ona flat if the fish want it they'll let you know

So would it be totally dreadful of me to suggest they can be fished in much the same way as the dreaded booby lol?

I fished these the other day as a single on a river. Ginked up and floating like a cork. Got a few takes but nothing major. Started to let them get dragged by the line and then under by the current. Got a take nearly every time while retrieving them subsurface. Great fun because it was so visable in the water I could watch the trout take it.
