Default French leader on stillwaters

Reading the latest copy of trout fisherman and I noticed there is an article on French leaders on stillwaters. It is pretty much a really bright bit of line between your line and leader that is used as a bite indicator. My question is, is it accepted by the bung haters and purists??

WHO CARES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

it works ,and if Fred says it works and has also proved it works, then i for one believe him not that i wouldn't anyway ,Freds a straight forward bloke like myself and what ya see is what ya get and honest with it !!!!!!!!!!!

No I just wanted to find out peoples opinion on French leaders if I wanted to know if bungs were flyfishing I would have asked that.
