Default Grating/squeeking noise coming from an eye

Last week while fishing i noticed a grating/squeeking type noise coming from an eye while i was retrieving. When i checked the eyes for any sharp edges etc they all felt fine. I was using a 14ft scierra sweep with an airflo quick spey ridge line ?
Can anyone give any advice on how to fix this or how it,s hapening
Thanks Alan

Try putting a piece of mono thru eye keep it taught and move it about,it may have a crack, if it,s if a lined guide,

took me a while to find a crack in ceramic on one my favourite coarse
rods

Ace tip that (no pun intended) never heard of 'squeeky eye' before.

It's probably your rod rings, Alan.
Some of the "scandi "rods , Guideline Lpxe and LeCie in particular , are renowned for the " squeek ".
Especially when the rings and line are dry.

double check for cracks first, if there is get the ring replaced, they can eventually start putting little nicks in your line. if, as said above it's just a naturally squeaky eye, i have used a couple of coats of hard varnish on the liner. you have to repeat the process every few months, but its a small price to pay for irritation free fishing.

also check your bag for mice

a rub with line lube might help, on the rings too, should be doing that anyway.
