Default dryfly help?

Hi,
Having a few problems fishing dries recently.
Tip of floating line is sinking, the line is fairly new with Roman Moser loop fitted.
I use 8lb fluorocarbon, should I be using something else?
Whats the best type of floatant for flies, currently use Gink.
Thanks for help

it could be that your fly line is taking in water

remove the braided loop and put a wee dab of superglue on the tip end of your fly line then put the braided loop back on once the glue is dried, this will stop it taking on water and should keep it floating higher.

you could go down to 6lb nylon as well although this wont have a major effect

Following a tip on here, I used aquasure on the tip to seal it and then used mucilin floatant.
I was also advised to keep the aquasure in the fridge or freezer after opening.
I would also recommend dilly wax for the fly.

check you do not have any cracks or piercing on the line itself. It will have the same effect as it leaking in the end. Also give a nice clean, it's surprising how dirt can act as a sinkent.

I'd bin the braided loop, and put six inches of 20 lb Maxima on the tip with a perfection loop at its tip.

Overlay the mono on the fly line, bring the spare end back towards the tip forming a hoop, pass the same end of the mono through the hoop four or five times, then compress it all carefully.

Perfection loop the other end of the mono. The leader to fly line is basically half a grinner knot.

Good tip about sealing the end of your fly line and using red tin Mucilin - give the last 4ft or so of your fly line a good wipe with Mucilin and it'll float for hours.

Why are you using flourocarbon? Use copolymer or similar and carefully degrease the couple of feet or so closest to your dry fly. Another possibility is to dispense with the Roman Moser braided loop, good though they are, and nail knot either a mono tapered leader to the end of your line or investigate how to join a furled leader seamlessly to the end of your fly line and just add copolymer tippet as required.

copoly would be a better choice as flourocarbon sinks, mucillin keeps the tip floating, and bin the loops of the pox,

just read lighthous's post, enlightened gentleman that

Your fluorocarbon is the problem, it sinks.
