Default Cheap rod for salmon

I no this is a fly forum but going spinning for salmon and wondered if any could advize on a cheap rod and reel under £40 will be for very occasional use so not wanting to spend a fortune cheers bobby

Get a carp rod. I used to use my glass 1 3/4 lb test curve carp rod for spinning in Galway weir. Caught plenty of salmon on it. You can pick up a cheapy for 40 I would have thought. Some even offer a rod reel combo for under 50.

As christy said, i got a shakespeare xcede spining rod and an okuma razor spining reel with nylon for £40 not the best but still very good.....shop around and good luck

You would be astonished what Argos sell!
Carp rod kit with reel loaded with 15lbs line 2.75 test curve and rod bag under £30 never mind your £40!
got one for youngest boy, who wants to try canals for pike.
is good enough quality and strength for occasional pike/salmon.
