Default Sutherland lochs

Box standard wets like bibios, Claret bumbles, soldier palmers, dunkelds, kate maclarens, don't forget you might get the occasional salmon. This time of year you might get the daddies so some daddy paterns. Some of the irish patterns like a green peter etc. Ask for some local knowledge they will put you right.

Graeme.

Generally speaking, any black wet flies in size 12 or 14 will do the job but it won't hurt to have a selection as mentioned by menteith.
My avatar (black spider) tied with a couple of turns of silver tinsel round the bend is deadly up there.

add a size 12 loch ordie tied like a lavvy brush to pull through the crests of waves which if sutherland is true to form will almost certainly be present.
i am at assynt for my yearly trip next month and always take a few for the sea trout and salmon,as mentioned a peter ross and t/b and silver wont go amiss
i used irish dabblers last year with a fair degree of sucess.
my starting cast would be kate mclaren size 12, soldier(pearly) palmer 14, peter ross with jc cheeks 12.

Hello to everybody,

carlo fly fisherman from Italy here.

Last month I was on Highland and I'm totally falled in love for lochs. I'm not use to fish on loch but I'm trying to collect informations etc. etc.

I would like to ask a suggestion: I will return back on Scotland for few days. If you should suggest only one loch what you will suggest?

I'm not looking for fish of life; just a nice loch with wild fish.

Question could seem strange but unfortunatly I will have just 2 days fishing.

thank you and sorry for my english.

Carlo
