I will try the cedar as I can not deal with napthalene crystals. Had the crystal in the garage and could not take the smell, got rid of the after 2 days.

never even thought about this before although i do have a bag of wolf tail that smells like a tramps @rse.

Just keep everything in plastic airtight boxes.

Never had a problem. You don't want your flies smelling like an old granny's fur coat.
