Cheeto is on a distinguished road
Default Cornwall

On holiday in Newquay, but struggling to find somewhere to fish!

I'm geared up with a 7wt rod and waders and would love to fish a small river (guided)? or perhaps a still water also on the fly.

I do have some spinning gear.

Any suggestions please Gents? I'm desperately in need of a "fix".

Regards
Andy

Thought I better give some info for others.
Right next to Newquay is the Gannel river esturary with trout and sea trout, free fishing up to Trevemper bridge, not sure above but I can fish a couple of bits that my mate owns.
St.Mawgan and Mawgan Porth have the Menalhyl river with tickets (cheep) from the Merrymoor Inn at Mawgan Porth
Further afield theres the Camel and Fowey rivers, more for salmon and sea trout
Check out the angling 2000 web site for more ideas.

Just a word of caution. I bought a ticket for the Menalhyl as I'm staying just by the Merrymoor Inn yesterday. This river is small, and i mean small. Some stretches a 6ft leader would reach the other side and at its widest (from the coast up to Mawgan) an 8 ft rod with a 6ft leader would do the same. Most of the river is inaccessible between these points with a new owner for the land beyond the car park excercising their right to keep anglers out. Didnt even bother to get a rod out. Just my experience.
