Can somebody help me? Should leaders be tapered or not??

Welcome to the Forum.
What type of fishing do you intend to do. only certain types of fly fishing require a tapered leader.(not neccesarily need)

Hello, i am brand new to the sport and am looking to fish mainly pitsford and rutland, will be getting professional lessons next week!! can't wait.

i think its personal prefference, you dont have to use a taperd leader and alot of the time it doesnt meen the diffrence between catching and not catching, if you want to use a taperd leader its up to you and you alone

Boat fishing in the places you mention I would not taper my leader.
Bank fishing I might. but probably not.

many thanks for your answers guys, fly-fishing is quite a complicated business to the novice. Just going to try different things and find out what works for me.
