Default Mystery fish?

Had a session at my club reservoir today had 4 browns and one other "trout?" which had a dark back but completely silver sides and a total absence of spots of any sort. The water does not have any river or stream flowing into it so it can't be a migratory fish.

The reservoir in question is stocked with brown and rainbow trout I can only think that it was a rainbow that for some reason has not "coloured up" with the usual magenta stripe and developed spots.

I have taken a photo on a digital camera but until one of my offspring teaches me how to download the image then post it on here I'm stuck to help any further with the identification of the fish. It wasn't huge I'd estimate it at around 12 to 14 oz.

Anyone any ideas?

AS far as I know there are no blue trout stocked that's why I didn't consider it, unless one got mixed up with the stock of Rainbows? Never having seen a blue trout I couldn't say for sure.

You'd know a Blue trout - they're blue - and go off like rockets.

Which makes all the pellet pig comments so totally pathetic.

But the fish you caught was like one I had may years back - there is an explanation, but I think it's a sort of albino brown. Not literally.

A blue trout is a Rainbow, and quite often find themself stocked with rainbows,If they are only 'Slightly' blue.then they do look like Seatrout, with no spots, and silver rays in the tail.
This is a ''Blue''

Indeed, but I know exactly what he means - I don't think it is one of those, they are more like a chub to look at, well, not exactly but more chub than blue, about the flank, not red fins obviously.

Why don't you go to the photo section, and follow the simple instructions to post a photo. Then we won't have to guess

Hobble; must be someone fairly famous as Bruce Sandison has him pictured on his Scottish Update in Aug 2010 FF&Ft. Casting a long line on Antermony Loch.
Looks vaguely familiar - only younger.
