Default River trout - Cheshire

Me and Mrs EIB will probably me relocating to Cheshire within the next few months. I've had a look on the net and been in contact with a few clubs but I'm facing 3 year plus waiting lists.

Now I know it's not that much of a drive from Cheshire to north Wales or Yorkshire where trout abound (hopefully) but was wondering if anyone had any ideas for locations closer to (new) home.

... depends which part of Cheshire, and whether you're looking for rivers or stillwater.
The least promising part is probably north, around Warrington, because it's flat, but it doesn't seem to hamper Malcolm Greenhalgh. South and east will be convenient for Derbyshire / Peak District rivers.

Default Fishing in Cheshire

Hi, not actually in Cheshire, but I would recommend the Disley and New Mills club which is near Stockport. Fantastic waters on the Goyt, full of good trout and grayling. Reasonably priced too. I was a member for a couple of years and enjoyed fishing the waters. Have now relocated to North Yorkshire.....spoilt for choice!!

I was also in Prince Albert, but mainly for a bit of winter coarse fishing. You can draw your own conclusions on that one for river trouting.

Depending on where you are in Cheshire, the other options are to look east into the peak District. Good fishing ion the Wye and Derwent, although not always that easy to find out details.

Good luck with your relocation.

Daran

Hi Andy. It was simple really - Mrs EIB's employers have moved her team to Manchester and she had two choices - take the relocation package or take the redundancy. As you know, I'm in Belfast one day and Beirut the next so it makes no real difference where I base myself, and I've already got an office in Runcorn to work from.

Hopefully I'll make it down for a grayling day at least once during the winter and, of course, it's always open house for you and Mrs ACW if you fancy a change of scene.

Have a look at Wirral Game Wirral game fishing Club home page

We've got good water on the Welsh Dee, Conwy, Lledr, Clwyd and Elwy but apart from the Dee, stronger on migratory fish than browns although the Dee offers superb grayling and brown trout fishing.

There is a waiting list but at the moment no more than two years is likely.

Thanks for the links sewinbasher and darans.

Waiting lists, unfortunately, is what I've been finding everywhere. I'll still be trouting down south until the end of September but, come October and the big move (subject to flogging the house), I'll be going stir crazy if I can't get on the grayling somewhere!

Chill out - just join Warrington Anglers, then you'll have loads of fishing, then ask around, you'll have fishing coming out of your ears.

PM me if you want to know a brill wild brownie secret location with free fishing.
