Default Monomasters

I have a Monomaster and it is an excellent thing, tidies up tippet and leaders beautifully. Emptying it is a pain though, I struggled with my fingers and I resorted to the kitchen scissors in the end. Am I missing something? Is there an easy way of emptying it? Or is the one downside of an otherwise very nifty bit of kit.

Hi Polly, reading your post prompted me to empty mine for the first time. Yes, it is a scissor job. Perhaps the kitchen scissors are a little hefty. I used some skinny fly tying ones, following up several channels snipping. It all fell off easily with a few prods. If you do not have any tying ones try some little manicure scissors, only a quid in Sainsburys. That should do it.

Hiya Polly,
I found the advertisement video for the product. They made it look easy to use, but they did not show how to empty the spool of old line.
I guess they had troubles as well.

Guys,

Take a look here for details of how to take the cap off the Monomaster - to be honest, it is easy when you know how ...

The monomaster - the most effective waste line holder

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link.

Kind regards

Have I missed the point here? I thought the problem was removing the old line, not opening the capsule

I use a sharp stanley knife, no problems.

Would it no be better just sticking old line in your pocket & cutting it up when you get to a bin. Seems like a useless gaget to me if you have trouble emptying it.

Just to put the record straight (I have indulged in a little leg pulling above), it is easy to open, one hand and a quick push with the thumb. As for removing the old tippet/leader snip snip snip or a sharp stanley knife used gently as suggested above will do the trick.
I used to put old line in my pocket with a view to dealing with it later, but somehow it always made it's way back out of my pocket at the most inconvenient time. The Monomaster is a breath of fresh air and I for one would never be without one.
