Default Loch Bach Hints please.

Pardon my fat fingers. It is of course Bhac.

I have a boat there on Sunday and was hoping that someone could give me a few hints please?

Thanks.

Euan

Hi Esk

L Bhac is run by Pitlochry Angling club and is in the middle of Tummel Forest, it is stocked regularly with decent sized rainbows, thogh not in the supersize class. There is a bit of a walk down to the loch from where you park your car so probably wise not to take too much tackle. (I have taken an electric outboard down before but it was a killer carrying the battery back to the car).
I personally haven't fished it this year but have heard it was fishing well. All the usual rainbow tactics work and so do traditionals. The fish are usually fairly obliging unless you get bad conditions. There is a bag limit but can't remember what it is. The setting is beautiful and the views across to Ben a Glo stunning so all in all its a nice place to fish. Hope you have a great day and enjoy it.
all the best

Gordon

Thanks for the tips.

I think we'll be rowing!

Is it deep? Was wondering whether it was worth trying intermediate/sinking lines if the top was a bit quiet.

Euan.

A nice place indeed, Two boats & a fishing hut. Osprey will probably pay a visit so watch out for that. I got it on a bad day & only caught a few wee Broonies but if you fish it not long after it has been stocked I am sure fish will come to your fly.
I check in the fishing book in the hut will give you some pointers to what is happening as the catch returns will indicate volume of fish or at least give you a guide. When I fished it in August couple of years back the returns were poor but in previous months some days over a week period showed good returns. I guess this coincided with a restocking. Still a lovely place to fish really is & as the other poster said lovely view. Quite a long drive up a not great road but no need for four wheel drive just drive carefully. Funny thing though on the day I went, we had driven the few miles up to it & that day two others a man & wife & a family had passed bye had a few casts & left but on going back to my car some pig had hit it & this was in a car park that you could have got about 1/2doz cars in no problem. Kind of spoiled the day a bit. Did not even have the decency to leave a note just did it and departed.
Permit from the Tourist centre in the town & not expensive
