Default Greys " The Falloden"

Hi all. Info needed please. I got my hands on a rod yesterday. Its an old Greys. On the Blank it is marked as " The Falloden". Most people know them as the Greys Allrounder apparently. Can anybody shed some light please? Its a 15ft 10wt. Great condition. Case and bag and all supplied. Some history would be great. My first trip into the double handed world. Tim

Quick google brings up that it's possible named after Viscount_Grey_of_Fallodon

don't know if he is related to Greys of Alnwick?

Fallodon or Flodden is in Northumberland near Alnwick

sorry don't know anything about dates of rod etc.

Afraid I can't help on the actual rod but I know what it's named after. I used to live next to Fallodon Hall, seat of Viscount Earl Grey, in Northumberland. Still have family living there.

If you want more history google: Fly fishing edward grey

Erm, be careful not to mix up Fallodon with Flodden - They're both in Northumberland within a few miles of each other, but google it too - (you might find the Scots have a thing or two to say ! )

(For the record I've also got a family link to Flodden via a Grt Uncle b1800 who lived on the farm @ Branxston = Flodden Field. His surname was Darling and according to my grandad we are also related to Grace Darling).

Back on topic I Don't think the Mr Grey who left Hardy's to form his own rod making operation was of the Gentry.?

Thanks guys. I had found that stuff on google a few days back. Its a bit confusing. I though that more specific things about the rod may have come up but it aint! May give Greys a call next week and see what they say. It seems a good enough rod for me though! Thanks again, Tim.
