Default Which Intermediate Fly Lines

Hi Everybody,

I need to buy a new intermediate (clear) fly lines as my airflow distance (clear head, yellow running line) met up with the motor s propeller at the weekend. I have had reasonable success with the airlow line but hated casting it and never felt as if I was in touch with the flies all the time. I mainly used this line for catching rainbows when boat fishing. I like fishing for brown trout ( drifting boat) and have been advised by a number of anglers that a clear intermediate will outfish a floater. Before the accident with my airflow line I was thinking of buying a Cortland precision ghost tip, this line has a 15" clear tip.
Do people think that the ghost tip line would do the same job as the airflow line? Has anybody used the 15ft ghost tip lines do they cast and fish well?
Would the ghost tip be ok for wild brownies? do I need to buy two lines? Any advice please?

Hi Crestie
I use the airflo sixth sense intermediates for both boat and bank fishing. They cast well and you are in direct contact with your flies at all times as they are non-stretch. however they are not clear but pale green. I have not found this to be a problem. They come in several sink rates- i have the slow glass and fast glass lines- you need to see which would suit your style of fishing best. I do have a problem with many of the clear intermediates- many ahve memory problems.
I also have the Ghost Tip line you mention but it rarely gets an outing- it may be my poor casting but I find it comes down like a ton of bricks and i struggle to get good turnover- having said that several of my fishing buddies swear by them so you really need to try one out for yourself.
Hope this is of some help
Paul
