Default Breathables

I know this is a recurring theme but what is the consensus from previous discussions as to the best breathable waders? I am in my fourth season with my Simms and finding it increasingly problematic to keep them remotely waterproof. Bearing in mind I probably use them perhaps 30 times a season, then I have used them about 100 times or so. Is this about it? Is it worth having a cheaper brand for a shorter time or should I just put two quid in a tin every time I go fishing and buy a new pair as and when? Also is there any water proofing treatment I should be dunking them in to keep them in good condition? Finally what are your opinions on stocking foot or boot foot? Are the boot foot better protected from damage?
Alan.

Alan, if they are not badly torn, check out diverdave on here, first class bloke, and top notch repairs apparently.
For the price of Simms, they may warrant a repair.
I am an Orvis man myself, the back up is too good to refuse.

I've got Simms G4, no problem with them being waterproof, I'd e-mail Simms.
A few weeks ago I also bought a pair of Bisons for £64, I've reviewed if your interested.

Default A bit like tyres

I find the question very similar to the age old car tyre question cheap tyre or big brand? Neither will do better if punctured and very often the cheaper tyre will perform every bit aswell and some might need replaced sooner though won't have cost as much! It really is a personal viewpoint! I have experienced putting very expensive tyres on the car only to get a screw in the tyre wall bang goes another £100 and all the hassle of getting a new tyre! I haven't owned too many pairs of waders but I hope this analogy helps you make up your mind!
