Fished the river axe at axeminster yesterday with an ex army serviceman as part of casting for heroes.
he had some fishing experience, mainly through course fishing. the whether was mixed. the morning started out overcast with the sun breaking through at midday for most of the afternoon.
we ended up fishing Tenkara style with very good sucess. a number of fish were caught on PTN and killer bug patterns. the river axe is very low at the moment so it was a case of fishig the deep holes and shallow water riples.
the afternoon brought a change of tactics with small F flies working to tempt a couple of small brown trout on the surface.
all in all it was a very good day, approximately 15 fish caught, all brown trout with the largest being 13 inches.
i will post photos once i work out how to do it. the links to my photoalbum seem to have disappeared?

i have two clients booked for next week. will be fishing the River axe. hopefully we will have a bit of rain fall to increase the water level a little.
kind regards
Rivercoln
