Default mmm help

hi guys i got my dilly wax , unfortunately i have to say i am not thrilled with it.

I cut the sealed nozzel and squirted out some clear liquid (not much) rubbed it onto the drys and blow me down they sank.

is the wax ment to be a differenet colour ie the clear stuff is just there on the top to cover the main stuff below?

I have used these flys before with some other floatant they floated fine (same tippet as i used before too!)

Anyone who has this stuff can u post what i am doing wrong.

Does the wax need to dry on the flies for 10 or so before used it? as i rubbed it on and started fishing straight away. I gave the flys a damm good shake as well to no avail.

dilly wax goes clear and runny when it gets warmed up .. in cold conditions it will be a cloudy white and stiffer, no the wax doesnt need to dry for 10 or even 1 minute straight from the tube and onto the fly ,as to your flies sinking i dont know whats happening there ??

icejohn,

Sounds like you are possibly applying too much to your pattern.

You only need to squeeze out a pin head amount onto your index finger - rub the finger with your thumb to melt the dilly wax then gently massage the wax into the fly.

I use Dilly wax exclusively for all my dry patterns and they float perfectly.

Kind regards

I'm a huge fan of dilly wax, a tiny bit goes a long way, just a tiny bit on your finger and thumb and rub in then apply to the fly.
I use nothing else and it works every time.... wouldn't use anything else!

Default amout

I hve to say i used about a quarter pea sized amount. ie the same as i would use on gink.

i will give it a bash again with a smaller amount.

Although i know some guys dunk their drys in those liquid silicon jars for good measure.

tx will stick with it. I am always looking for something new to try.
