Trouble is, all these theories are usually based on a little pen drawing in 'Trout Fisherman' of a nice little lake with an island in the middle, a couple of points (peninsulas) a deep end, and a shallow end. I reality, no two waters are the same, and no two days are the same. Fish movement is based on many many variables, and better men than me will still struggle to get it right even 50% of the time.
Here's what your up against....
Air temp
Water temp
Water clarity
Water movement ('stillwaters' are never still)
Wind direction
Wind speed
Food source(s)
Features/Topography
Atmospherics (pressure)
Oxygen levels..................etc etc etc.
All these variables are changing and working together - hourly, daily and weekly. After 20 years experience on my local reservoir, I've managed to get a
rough idea of seasonal movement... and reasons why, but just when you think you've got a clue.. bloody nightmare.

If you come up with a fool-proof formula, let me know.
