Was there any line, cord or hooks attached to them and roughly how many of these items did you find ?

How buoyant were they, is it possible they were going to be used as floats for some kind of drift net and was there a hole though the middle of them ? How were they attached to each other, bonded or tied ?

A photograph would be of help.

Any idea how many fish were taken ?

they were very soft,to soft to hold anything up id of thought,no line attached to any, they were bonded together and it looks as if they were cut into 2's as theres the mark on the sides were they should of been joined,no holes at all and there must of been a good 30 or 40 of them and all with bite marks? ill give him a ring to get a pick of them tomorrow.we both racked or brains but could not come up with any ideas what they could of been used for?

Just a thought,

Is it possible they were to be used as floats clove hitched on a running line with droppers coming off of them. One guy possibly walks with the line and the other clove hitches the middle of the " floats " to it which is spooled off a drum of nylon. He also attaches a dropper of sorts baited with hooks and bread this is then walked to the other side of the loch / lake before being trawled across the surface by the leading man.

Sounds like a couple of guys who work in a factory which produces the foam balls and have come up with an idea for poaching.

They'd have been better off using a board but that's a topic for P.M's meethinks.

Perhaps the pink balls were the bait. One on the hook, others thrown in as loose feed/attractant thats why so many. I have heard of marshmellow frumps and bits of crab sticks being used simularly.

Could it be these little chaps? Or something like them as the course anglers use a lot of stuff like this.
