Default Undercoat paint

Hi all- a guy who I used to work with (he is now retired), leant me some undercoat which I used on buzzer cheeks prior to applying orange fluo paint. The result was superb, and I have caught many fish on them. Applying the paint without the undercoat has nowhere near the same effect. Anyone know where i can buy some undercoat (maybe model paint undercoat or something). Cheers.

B & Q or any hardware store will sell undercoat paint but there are not as many colours available as years ago!!

I would have thought that it might have been a model maker paint like Humbrol.

Two coats of fluro perhaps, maybe you've tried that already and it's loosening the first coat.

Oil based undercoat may pickle(go wrinkley).

Normal concerns for paint don't really apply here, you could try a base coat of emulsion. Little tester pots from B&Q etc will suffice

Default undercoat

Thanks for the responses- apparently some humbrol white matt model paint will do the job - £1.35 per pot.

Would tippex or a similar correction fluid not do the job as I have seen on some videos tyers using this under flouto floss to help stop the colour darkening when wet?
