I use nothing else.Only thing that works in the west coast for me. I use many ,but Ben's 100 is the ultimate.

I use Jungle Formula or Boots own make 50% Deet because the buggers like eating me, sweet blood is the problem .

Never heared of the one Jim said, but if he recommends it for the midges they have it must be good, will have to try and find where they sell it.

Oh by the way Deet has supposed to be bad for you so i recollect someone saying, but as long as it keeps those biting buggers away i will put up with the side effects...

All the best Tony........

I use DEET based Jungle Formula, but only as a very last resort. As soon as I apply it I get a blinding headache. Can't win.

Just Google Ben's 100 and you'll get pages of info.

Any insect repellent without DEET is a complete waste of time, IMO. I tried a bunch of them back when it was a big fad to go DEET-free. They were all useless.

Best I've used and now the only two I buy are Muskol and Deep Woods Off. Both have varying concentrations of DEET and both work well.

BTW, do NOT allow insect repellents of any kind to get on fly lines, leaders, mono line, waders, rain coats, or basically anything made of plastic. Both repellents and some sunscreens will seriously damage certain kinds of plastics.
