What flies to buy.

I'm going to buy some flies but im not sure what i should go for at this time of year for brown trout..

Can anyone list some flies i should buy for this time of year?

"Brown trout" live in a wide variety of differing habitats, so if you were able to be a bit more specific, then you might get some more help.

Forgot to mention ill be fishing for brown trout in a river, i know hares ear nymphs and PTN's will work but what else ?
