Default Stunning present for anyone who blogs or keeps a fishing diary

I was given a fantastic gift today - a 96 page glossy hardback book covering my blog entries and photo's over the last 18 months of fishing, mainly in Staffordshire and Derbyshire but also exploits in Scotland and Wales. Published and printed by Blurb.com - a really professional looking job.

I've been writing my blog as a private fishing diary rather than allowing public access, but gave access to a few people who asked to keep in touch. Unknown to me, one of those guys very kindly got it published and gave me the book as a gift today. A genuine surprise.

There's an online preview (showing 15 pages only) at: Staffordshire and Derbyshire Rivers | By Kevin Harrison | Blurb
It includes write-ups and photo's of fishing with some of the guys I've fished with over that time period -Trugg, Royvs, Orvisfan, Robh, Tigermoth, Fishcake, JeffR, Alex Swann, Andy Heath, Thymallus Thymallus, Glen Pointon, and others. (Remind me next time you see me and I'll bring a copy along).

A fantastic gift. I'm chuffed! Well worth considering if you keep a blog or electronic fishing diary, or even if you've got a back catalogue of fishing photographs.

Kev

Default Wow!

Have just had a look at the link and you must be absolutely over the moon to have received such an excellent and unusual gift!

The photos also look excellent and it has now given me the urge to start keeping my own diary now!

Thanks Micky, I was impressed with it.

It's been pointed out that there's a price tag for ordering the book online. I should explain that this isn't intended to be a money making venture. Basically, if you tick a box saying publish publicly then it adds it to the Blurb website and, if anyone is daft enough to buy a copy, the website takes a cut and the rest goes to the guy who uploaded it. I can't see this happening but, if anyone is daft enough to order a copy at that price, I'll make sure the proceeds go to the Wild Trout Trust.

Looks great Kev, somebody's stumbled on a clever idea there by the looks of it! Its a bit ironic in a way - you keep a web log instead of writing in a book and then someone turns it into a book. Keep up the good work and maybe you'll get Volume 2 for your birthday

Jeff - you got a double page photo, fishing under a very green canopy.

Sorry Loops, no photo's of you - was is the 2008 season we fished Dovedale? I remember a photo of that nice grayling you had. Will make it up to you by guesting you next time you're this way.
