I foster a autistic boy who loves to come with me fly fishing He has had a lesson & have been recommended a 8 to 8.5ft 5# & put a 6# on it .Could any one recommend a rod ( I have looked at sonic 3) & what are your thoughts on heavier line any recommendations sorry forgot to say he is 11 & average height for age

How old and how big is he? If he's on the small side then you might want to go with a 7 or 8 foot in 4 weight. The Fladen and Shakespeare Odysee rods get great reviews in the 7 foot to 9 foot range so those are possibles makes at a very reasonable price.
