Default When does sunday start

Up north , at this time of year it doesn't get pitch black at this time of year til well after 12pm (even then good cloud cover is required).
Which gives rise to a bit of a moral dilema. Since it's illegal to fish on sundays for seatrout, and said fishy is only really interested in your fly when you can't see the end of your snout, is it justified to fish the first couple of hours of gods lazy day? Last night there was plenty of fish bouncing about, they only settled about 12.45am.

I'd have a bit of stab in the dark (pun intended) at midnight, and lasts for 24 hours. I understand this presents a dilemma when fishing on a Saturday night though conversely you could also fish a 'Sunday night' after midnight. So I would say you should not fish after midnight on a Saturday night. I fail to see any ambiguity.

Aah, now that would be an ecumenical matter.
Was the first day not created by the addition of light. So therefore would the day not begin with first light.

Just a thought.

Most river permits rules and regulations will state when you have to be off early on Sunday mornings. It is not as if it is an unusual problem!

I hear your pain but midnight is the cut off time.
Where would it all end? before we know it we would want to fish a few days past the end of the season etc.

May I ask what is the origin of this whole thing about not fishing on sundays in scotland as I believe you can fish everywhere else in the uk on sundays.

But the good news is you can sit and wait sunday night .till it's monday morning.
Many folks have been prosecuted for fishing into sunday.your line has to be out of the water by the midnight bell.

It is all down to the Church, the day of rest.
I think it is a bit outdated these days.

No Sunday fishing on some rivers/beats allows those rivers that are humped every day of the week some much needed respite. Yes it may be a tad outdated but I am all for it staying.
