The rewards of working with young anglers,as many here do,is seeing them acheiving things, yesterday we took 2 of our young anglers from our Junior club to Scone game fayre to compete in the distance trout casting.
To say parents and ourselves from the fishery were pleased with the result could be an understatement.
At 10 yrs old Craig Alexander was the winner and 11 yr old Cameron Walker was 2nd ,only losing out by mm,s.They both did exceptionally well in very windy conditions as those who were there would have witnessed. They put in alot of time practicing at our junior club on fridays and have gained the reward and it was a great pleasure to see them acheive .
The senior trout distance was won By Mark Morrison who has been part of the fishery since he was about 12 yrs old and his cast was superb.
At 10 yrs old and 11yrs old getting a cast to the backing is no small feat and using a rod which is supplied and not their own makes it even more of acheivement. With only 2 false casts aswell.
Their is lessons for us all here.
A big well done to you all you did your selves proud.
Rather than a bad day at the fayre I feel it was a good day out and more positives than negatives came from it and these young lads will take something away from it that will cherish for the rest of their fishing careers.

Wee Craig, well done
mark winner of the seniors, well done bud
