Default HEY CART AND GRYFFE

Hey guys... I am quite new to fly fishing having bait fished for years. I have visited my local rivers a few times just on the day permits(not stumped for the big yearly but im going to) And was just wondering what other scottish anglers are fishing the black cart and gryffe and what their experiences are. I say black cart because sadly the white that runs through my local renfrew is in a sorry state...thus is being shinned ha.

The Abercorn Angling club have most of the lower Gryffe & part of the lower Cart. There is no waiting list for a season ticket & it is by far a cheap ticket at around £50 per annum.Trout are quite small though there are some big ones if one cares to approach the river right. I got one around 2 pounds couple of seasons ago which has been my biggest to date but generally are small with Parr being a nuisance in streamy water. Salmon & Sea Trout runs are quite good but late season & Grayling are making a comeback but very localised meantime. The club took a conscious decision not to stock for a few years to let the river regain a natural balance. Bridge of Weir still stock their waters & occasionally stocked fish come down into Abercorn waters. These fish are around a pound & are easily identified by a blue dot on the underside of the fish.
River Runner on here is the head bailiff & Peter G runs the website. Tickets are supplied by Hooked On Fishing tackle shop on the Renfrew Rd. Suggest you contact them.
The upper Gryffe (Bridge of Weir River Angling Club) does have a waiting list I believe.

Hi Williame

Feel free to have a look around our club website on www.paisleyabercornanglingclub.co.nrwhich has information about the club as well as links to our Facebook page. Our Facebook page has loads of photos of the river itself and some of the club events.

As Highlander says, the club have taken the natural route and stopped stocking several years ago. A controversial decision at the time but supported by the majority of the membership as well as a lot of underpinning research.

If you live in Renfrew anyway, pop in and see Sandy at Hooked on Fishing or feel free to email us via the club website with any questions.

Regards

Peter

Thanks alot mate ...the inputs much appreciated First took the idea one day basically because i was walking over the stone bridge and i could see the fish in the water! Never really thought of so close to home but it certainly seems as good as any. Gonna go down and get the season pass off sandy this week

From what i hear the fishings pretty good, has there been many good fish caught this year?
