Default Today's beauty from Bolton Abbey on the Wharfe

So, decided to go out today, despite the water levels being really low. Here's a pic of just how low the Wharfe is at Bolton Abbey.....

Weather was a bit overcast. Went with step father John, and here he is enjoying himself.....

There was absolutely nothing showing. Decided to go with dry fly, fishing up into the edges of fast water coming down into the pools. Took a couple of small ones at first, here's one....

Then after lunch took this absolute beauty.....

Popped him back safe and sound and then caught a few more smaller ones, here's one of them....

Total of 6 fish landed for me, lost a couple and had numerous takes that I wasn't talented enough to hook

Anyway, great day. Packed in at 4pm when it started to pour down.

Cheers
Stuart

Nice photos Stuart, the Wharfe looks almost in flood compared to the Eden, it's like a ditch in parts.

Very well done (3 brace) and its very pleasing to know you and your step dad had an enjoyable day on the BA water.

I don't think the fish you missed were because of any lack of talent, alot of folk I have spoken to have had fish fail to get hold of the fly fully. This unusually dry weather we are having is just putting the fish in an uncooperative mood at the moment, you can't blame them really, having to stew in a warm and too them probably very dirty bath. Bring on the rain, then we'll be able to complain about too higher levels! oh its never perfect for fisherman is it thats what makes this pastime of ours so enjoyable.
