Default Snowbee Geo Cassette vs Hardy Demon

Anyone had the good fortune to have seen both these reels up close?

I am thinking about going down the cassette route and really like the look of both these reels! I expect the Hardy to be well a Hardy and exceptionally well built though I'm not so sure about the Snowbee none of the local traders have them to go and take a look at! I prefer the lighter weight of the Snowbee coming in at around the same weight as my Pflueger presidents that I currently use! I'm fishing #8 line so the heavier Demon 7000 would probably be necessary to accomodate that line.

Interesting. It was the line size - I use 8's too that put me off the Demon.

A friend of mine has the 5000 as he uses 7 weights but I came to the conclusion that I would need a 7000, and given I have a very light rod, I did not want that weight.

I suspect the finish on the Hardy may be a bit better but the Snowbees have been faultless for me so far and I do a lot of line changing. My only criticism of the Snowbee is that they should package more spools with it.

Both nice reels though.

Charlie

hiya hoopstroops,
i treated myself to a demon 7000 set up this year.
very smooth action, good line capacity, the weight of the reel doesnt effect casting probably cause the rod is matched , but ive used it with other rods and still not an issue.
makes switching lines so easy the only real issue i have is that the rubber seal ring is vital and could be a bit too easy to lose when changing lines.
an expensive piece of kit but i expect it to last a long long time.(8#wf lines too)
hope this helps, tight lines whichever reel you choose.

Iuse the snowbee in the smaller size for river fishing. not a direct comparison i appreciate, but its a fine reel - light, functional, looks great too.

hi scooby ,
i honestly dont remember i'll check tonight and post monday.
whichever it is its rock solid, it can be take a bit of effort to remove the reel from the rod after a days fishing if the lock nuts have been over tightened. im not to gentle about it either
and there is still no movement in the saddle .
