Default Waterproof Camera Info

I've dropped and broke the screen on my Pentax optio w30 . I have looked at the new Pentax w60 for £130 and thought I'd ask you chaps for opinions on waterproof cameras and hoped you might answer my questions below please.

Is it worth repairing my w30?

Are the Pentax w60 any good in comparison, especially macro for close up insect shots?

Are there other decent cameras to consider around the same price?

Many thanks

Mick

Default waterproof bargain

HI,
I picked one of these up on ebay a couple of weeks ago and am well pleased with it.

waterproof to 10mtrs, plenty of settings including 3 underwater settings (Normal, Action and Macro).

Seems to take good pictures to me, although I am no expert.

That's a really good buy.

i have been vaguely happy with my pentax w80- problems are slow shutter response, no aperture priority/ manual control. and a pointless 'smile recognition' mode,
as a point and shoot camera its ok, image quality is good. nice and compact and waterproof as bonus,

Jim, it is mate. I know the ebay ad claims it is waterproof to 3mtrs but when you read the instructions that comes wit it it is actual 10mtrs.

I have tested it underwater and its pretty good.
I will post a picture or two this evening if I get time.

After you showed me that Hitachi, I promply ordered one as well, Frank. But the price has gone upwards of £65 new.. have a look at the price now!
Its a great little camera, about the size of a cigarette packet, so easy to have in one of your many fly-vest pockets.
