Regularly been fishing the BA water. Yes its low but the fish are still there even though they can be a bit tetchy in this low, warm water and bright sunshine. They can be caught if you keep searching the water and varying your technique, dry fly fishing has proved successful for myself in the evenings. You also need some luck for the day you choose, without any specific reason the fish seem to rise well some days and not others, no telling why. Alot of the stock fish are aquiring the intelligence to avoid anglers fly's and often in the clear water you can see the fish tracking the fly throughout its course without taking it.
Try fishing the faster riffles, deep pools or in the shade of overhanging trees the fish are favouring these areas under the current conditions. The fishing isn't easy at the height of this warm weather drought, but it very rarely is at most times and at least we can wet a line which is better than in flood conditions of previous years. Pity BA didn't do 1/2 day tickets you'd probably more keen to give it a go, as a short day is not too bad when things are hopeless. I think the low water is putting many anglers off making a visit, I've seen very few people on the water the last couple evenings. But with low angling pressure your chances increase. So my advice if you can afford a day and have the time, make the effort it may well pay off. Make sure you have some BWO's and Klinkhammers with you and partridge and orange spider is also a good standby for those deep, scummy back eddies. Hope you get your 2 brace if you make the trip.
