No, but I believe they taste delicious. Many years ago we
put some baited drop nets down at night & by morning they were stuffed with crayfish, some of which was easily 6-8" long. There was talk of a commercial operation but that came to nothing. The bottom of the Whitemoss is a carpet of fine weed & they hide in that. I guess they mop up any dead fish as you very rarely see any in the water. We dug up "The Cundy" as it was blocked with weed one year which is about 50 yards from the water in a field. The weed was full of Crayfish which had taken on a black coloured hue, I guessed they lived on dead fish Trout & Minnows of which there is a good population of them too, that had been washed over the overflow in high water.
I remember oncefishing at night & I had chapped a wee Broonie for breakfast, Leaving it in the water I fished for a while before going back to reteive my fish but I had trouble finding it. Shinning my torch in the water I noticed it a few feet from where I had left it was to my surprize it was moving. It had not suddenly came alive but a couple of Crayfish had got hold of it, all in the space of 20 minutes or so.
